Chicken salad as a popular lunch/brunch meal is considered a salad because it contains components such as lettuce, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and other items, making it a salad-like dish. The classic chicken salad is a low-carbohydrate dish which is great for picnic gatherings, and office potlucks.

The earliest recorded chicken salad is the French Chicken salad from 1808. The chicken salad that is now the most popular in America was created by Liam Gray in Wakefield, Rhode Island. The Chinese chicken salad is thought to have been invented in Santa Monica by an Austrian chef Wolfgang Puck.

The popularity of the chicken salad is evident with the growth of the Chicken Salad Chick restaurant concept that originated in Auburn, Alabama in 2008. The restaurant quickly became a popular lunch destination for women, accounting for 70% of our customer base. Today, Chicken Salad Chick has well over 200 locations across the US, Southeast, Midwest, and Texas and the restaurant continues to be a popular spot for lunch.

Please enjoy our Rosemary Chicken Salad next week.
